Rajpal Yadav celebrates 20 years of Malamaal Weekly, thanks fans for love
Priyadarshan’s comedy Malamaal Weekly was released 20 years ago on March 10. Rajpal Yadav, whose character Baaje gained immense popularity, thanked fans for their love by sharing a compilation of his funniest scenes from the film.

Actor Rajpal Yadav expressed gratitude to the audience on the completion of 20 years of comedy film Malamaal Weekly on March 10. The actor, who played the memorable character Baje in the laugh-filled film, thanked fans for the love they have received for the film and his role over the years.
Marking the milestone on Tuesday, Rajpal shared a video compilation of some of the funniest moments from the film on his official Instagram handle.

Thanking the audience for their continued support, he wrote in the caption, “Can’t believe it’s been 20 years! Heartfelt thanks to all of you for giving so much love to Baje and the film. (I can’t believe it’s been 20 years! Heartfelt thanks to all of you for showering so much love on Baaje and the film) (sic)”.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Malamal Weekly It featured many actors including Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Riteish Deshmukh, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani in lead roles.
Inspired by the 1998 film Waking Ned, the film tells the story of Leelaram, played by Paresh Rawal, who is a lottery ticket seller in the poor village of Laholi. When one of his tickets wins a huge jackpot, Leelaram comes up with a plan to claim the prize himself, leading to a series of comical misunderstandings and chaotic situations.
The film’s popularity also led to several regional remakes over the years. It was remade in Telugu as Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw in 2006, in Kannada as Dakota Picture in 2012 and in Malayalam as Amayum Muyalum in 2014.
Written by Aishwarya Kaushik, the film has narration by veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah. It was produced by Percept Picture Company and Sahara One Motion Pictures, with cinematography by Sameer Arya and direction by N. Editing was done by Gopalakrishnan and Arun Kumar.
