Amid the increasing wave of bilingual projects to bridge the Telugu and Tamil industries, such as KV Anudip collaborated with Dhanush for ‘Wathi’ for ‘Rajkumar’ and Venky Ataluri with Shivkartikeyan and now handed over another film, director Vivek Ethraya with Suriya.

While an official announcement is yet to come, strong speculation on social media suggests that Athrey’s next film may have superstar Rajinikanth. The project is expected to be supported by Mythri filmmakers, which recently produced ‘Good Bad Ugly’ with Tamil actor Ajit Kumar, which proved to be the success of the box office.

Vivek Athere is considered one of the most promising new-age filmmakers of Telugu cinema. Known for the bizarre creed, Brochewerevura and romantic comedy Ante Sundariki, Atreya recently performed Saripodaha Sanivaram, a commercial action drama, starring Nani, SJ Surya and Priyanka Mohan. The film was critical praise and allegedly earned around Rs 100 crore at the box office.

Reports show that Vivek Athere has already started discussing with Rajinikanth, and if everything goes well, a cooperation can be on the card. However, no official confirmation has been made.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently juggling two major projects. After wrapping the cool, his much -awaited gangster drama directed by Lokesh Kanagarj and slate for release on August 14, now started shooting for jailer 2 with director Nelson Dilipkumar. The shoot is currently running in Kozhikode, Kerala.
