Superstar Rajinikanth’s 173rd film, produced by Kamal Haasan-led Raaj Kamal Films International, is named religion. Powered by Ashwath Marimuthu oh my kadavule And Python fame, the first-look poster features Rajinikanth as a deadly doctor. The puja ceremony of the film is happening today in Chennai with the entire cast and crew.

In the poster, Rajinikanth is wearing blue scrubs and has a knife in his hand, from which blood is dripping. He is also seen stepping on a man who has been beaten to death. The makers unveiled the poster with the Tamil caption, “Dharmame Vellam”, which translates as, “Justice will prevail.”

Actors Simran and Raashi Khanna are part of the cast. Soon the makers will announce the complete cast. The music of the film will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while cinematography, editing and action will be handled by Niketh Bommi, Pradeep E Raghav and Anbariv respectively.

Rajinikanth’s 173rd film has seen many changes since it was announced in 2025. Earlier, it was officially announced that director Sundar C will direct the film. However, a few days after the announcement, the filmmaker backed out of the film due to “unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances”.

Later, leader Director Siby Chakraborty brought on board as director thalaivar 173. After doing the pre-production work of the film, news came that he too had left the film. However, the makers did not give any reason behind the change.

For the last few weeks, news was coming that director Ashwath Marimuthu was being considered as the director of the film. However, the filmmakers wanted to keep the news under wraps until Rajinikanth was completely impressed with the script. Now that the title and first-look have been launched, all eyes are on the film’s story and its star cast.
