According to reports, Rajinikanth and director Mani Ratnam are all set to reunite for an upcoming film, marking their first collaboration in 33 years. Fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement, which is expected to happen on Rajinikanth’s birthday on December 12. Although the news is unconfirmed, social media is abuzz with excitement, with fans hoping the reports are true.

This possible reunion comes after a gap of 36 years for Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan, who are reuniting on the film Thug Life after the 1987 hit Nayakan. If the report is true, the collaboration with Rajinikanth will mark the director’s second collaboration with the superstar after the 1991 blockbuster Thalapathy.

Thalapathy, starring Rajinikanth and Mammootty, was a critically acclaimed and commercially successful film that adapted the Mahabharata’s friendship between Karna and Duryodhana into a contemporary setting. Rajinikanth played the role of Surya, representing Karna, while Mammootty played the role of Devaraja, representing Duryodhana. The film also starred Arvind Swamy, Amrish Puri and Bhanupriya, among others.
