Rajini Ki Baraat Review: Think Twice Before Joining This Baraat

Rajini Ki Baraat is the story of a girl from Darbhanga who fights patriarchy for love. The film’s bold climax and Ulka Gupta’s restrained acting are brilliant, but you can’t move past the uneven writing and forgettable music.

How many times have you seen love stories based on the backdrop of Bihar? Bihar, long known in mainstream cinema for its politics, power struggles and violence, has got a refreshing new cinematic flavor this time with its latest release. Rajni’s wedding procession.

Set in the dusty streets of India’s heartland, the film portrays Darbhanga as a deeply patriarchal city. Rajni’s wedding procession It starts off like another small-town love story you’ve seen five times already. But once you settle into the familiar rhythms of romance, family drama and social constraints, the film quietly turns into something unexpectedly bold.

The story begins with Rajni Jha (Ulka Gupta), a college teacher who is still emotionally attached to her late father. Her prized possession is her old scooter, which she rides around town like an emotional support vehicle (which, by the way, has a strong connection in the climax).

She lives with her constantly complaining mother (Sunita Rajwar) and supportive grandmother (Zarina Wahab) while trying to make a living in a society where women are expected to quietly accept whatever fate, family and patriarchy serve up on a steel plate.

Chased daily by his mother in search of possibilities, Rajini hid his love story from the family. Because no small-town love story is complete without extreme drama, her lover Rajjan (Kanishk Vijay) follows the orders of his father, Malkhan Singh (Ashwath Bhatt), a police officer who is obsessed with money, and decides to marry someone else against his wishes.

This is where the emotional roller coaster begins. Rajini fights for her love, while Rajjan completely surrenders to his father’s demands. After watching the drama for almost two hours, in the final stages of the film the makers decide to justify its title.

In a powerful, challenging climax, Rajini decides to take charge of her destiny and lead herself, despite all social constraints procession.

Apart from the theme, what carries the film is its dialogues. But, in this film, the makers failed to add dialogue, punch, humor and emotional weight. Instead, what we are left with is some lame humor, loosely written dialogue and characters struggling to deliver what was written for them.

No love story is complete without soulful music, but this includes songs Rajni’s wedding procession Will make you feel less emotionally motivated and more spiritually empty. With lyrics like, “The flutter of love flew away quickly He’s Flying,” the soundtrack sounds like someone started writing a poem, got distracted midway through, and decided to write nursery rhymes instead.

Looking at actors like Ashwath Bhatt and Zarina Wahab, who have great work to do, their roles look bad as they fail to perform. Director Aditya Aman deserves huge credit for allowing the world of Mithila to breathe naturally into the story, but we wish his characters could also breathe some acting breath.

The only saving grace in this is ‘Village love story’ (Village love story) Ulka is Gupta. She carries the film forward with confidence and composure. Someone who understands Rajini’s emotional contradictions plays him without unnecessary theatrics. However, I like it a lot kerala story 2This also continues his unfortunate “bad movie, good actor” streak.

Rajni’s wedding procession Not there. procession Which will make you wait eagerly to dance in it. It feels like this is a film whose heart is in the right place, even if its execution sometimes loses its way to the venue.

Rajni’s wedding procession Released in theaters on 29 May.
