Actor Rajiv Khandelwal says he signed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Chenab Gandhi only for its powerful script. The actor revealed that this was the only commercial film he agreed to, but it never took off.
Actor Rajeev Khandelwal recently discussed his involvement in the long-pending project Chenab GandhiDirected by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The actor talked about how the project came to fruition, but ultimately did not come to fruition.
The 50-year-old revealed that he is not usually attracted towards commercial cinema, but Chenab Gandhi It was a notable exception due to its compelling script and Bhansali’s involvement.

Despite the opportunity to work with Bhansali, Khandelwal made it clear that the script was his main idea. He set conditions before committing, reserving the right to walk away if he did not connect with the script.
He elaborated, “At that time, I also told Bhansali that you should test me, and you tell me that you want me. After that, you give me the freedom to ask for the script and also give me the freedom to say no. You do whatever you want – screen tests and look tests, but one day you will say, ‘Rajeev, I want you’. After that, I will read the script, and I will also have the right to say yes or no.”

“He respected it and he kept meeting me for 15-20 days. After that, I read the script and I was blown away. I have never read such a script in my life. I agreed to do it. Not because of the set up, but because the script was like that.”
