Apart from Ritesh and Genelia, actor Sanjay Dutt as Afzal Khan, Abhishek Bachchan as Sambhaji Shahji Bhosle and Mahesh Manjrekar as Lakhuji Jadhav are also seen in the teaser. Actors Vidya Balan, Sachin Khedekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jeetendra Joshi and Amol Gupte are also part of the group.
Raja Shivaji It traces the journey of a young Shivaji Bhosle as he challenges powerful, strong empires to establish the Maratha Empire. Set against the backdrop of a volatile era in Indian history, the story follows his efforts to sow the seeds Swarajya (self-governance), through strategic ingenuity and flexibility.
Music duo Ajay-Atul are composing the score, while cinematographer Santosh Sivan is handling the visuals. The teaser of Raja Shivaji also features epic battle sequences, horses, elephants and royal palaces, giving a look at its rich world-building.
The film is co-produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia under the banners of Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company respectively. Raja Shivaji Will be released worldwide in Marathi, Hindi and Telugu languages.
The film is set for theatrical release on May 1, 2026, which falls on Maharashtra Day, a state holiday commemorating the formation of Maharashtra.
