Riteish Deshmukh has criticized a scene in the trailer of his film. Raja Shivaji. The actor is seen with his co-star Sanjay Dutt and Vagh Nakh (paw of the tiger) in the scene. Some social media users have claimed that the trailer distorts historical facts about the great Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

A user on X questioned the historical accuracy of the scene where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is showing Wagh Nakh to Afzal Khan. The user argued that Wagh Nakh was actually hidden and was used only after Afzal Khan’s attack. He accused Ritesh, who directed, co-wrote and acted in the film, of tampering with the history and heritage of Maharashtra.

Riteish responded to the criticism by urging them to watch the entire film when it releases on May 1. The actor said he hoped the audience would enjoy the film with their loved ones and signed the post with “Jai Shivarai”.
