Raja Saab (Hindi) had a disappointing first day, earning Rs. Earned Rs. Earning around Rs 5.75-6 crore at the Indian box office. The original Telugu version earned an additional Rs. Earning Rs 1 crore from Hindi circuit. All India Opening Day to be updated soon, which will be around Rs. Earning of Rs 65 crore from initial figures.
Usually, South Indian dubbed films perform better in Maharashtra, Central and Eastern circuits, but barring Odisha, those regions didn’t really fare well this time. Meanwhile, North India was also not far behind. Overall, the opening was largely unremarkable across the board. There was some feeding involved, which has probably distorted the circuit-wise proportions.
Although the film is an entertaining take on the fashion horror-comedy genre, which is staged on a grand scale, the comedy didn’t really deliver in the trailers. This being a Southern genre comedy is probably the holding factor. Prabhas is undoubtedly the biggest star of South India having a market in the Hindi circuit. He has consistently given openings with his films; However, they all belong to the action genre or devotional elements. The two outings which lacked these elements, ‘Radhe Shyam’ and now this, failed to get an opening.
Raja Saab is at the sixth position among Prabhas’s eight releases in terms of first day Hindi release. In terms of admissions, this is probably the lowest after Radhe Shyam.
