Raja Saab grossed a remarkable amount of around US$2.60 million (Rs 23.50 crore) on its opening day overseas, including Thursday’s previews of US$1.70 million. Most of the overseas business came from the United States, where the film collected about US$1.70 million, including US$1.35 million from previews. The film had very limited business on Friday, which is not a good sign for its chances of running well.
Generally the overseas business remains quite high for Telugu films unless they get appreciation for the Hindi versions. If the reception isn’t favorable, they could fizzle out quickly, and judging by Friday’s trading in the US, that could be the case here too. The first weekend overseas is likely to be less than US$5 million. It could be that the film is struggling to reach the full mark when the Telugu giant is aiming for a opening day.
Combined with Rs. 66.50 crore from India, worldwide business Rs. 90 crores. This seems like a big number, but not in the context of how Telugu films are run. Rupee. At this point, for the Telugu giants, it is more about who will get the Rs. 100 crore on the first day no matter which score.
