Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to legendary Bollywood actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor on his 100th birth anniversary, recognizing his deep impact on Indian cinema and his global legacy. In a post on Twitter, the Prime Minister described Kapoor as a “visionary filmmaker, actor and eternal showman” whose work continues to inspire generations of filmmakers and actors.

“Today, we celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the great Raj Kapoor, a visionary filmmaker, actor and eternal showman! His talent transcended generations and left an indelible mark on Indian and global cinema,” Modi wrote on Twitter.

The Prime Minister also reflected on Kapoor’s early passion for cinema and his tireless efforts to establish himself as a “leading storyteller”. Kapoor’s films, which were a blend of artistry, emotion and social commentary, reflected the aspirations and struggles of the common people.
