In a worrying development, a radioactive shipment sent from Nazca Cancer Center in Newfield in the US state of New Jersey has gone missing. Medical equipment used for cancer scans in the consignment that reached its destination was ‘damaged and empty’. This development comes at a time when the mystery surrounding drone swarms flying in the night sky has irked the entire country. The timing and nature of the missing radioactive material have led to theories that drones may have been involved in the search or monitoring of the lost shipment.
According to a notification from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC), the device contained a small amount of germanium-68 (Ge-68), which was used to calibrate the scanner’s accuracy. This is described by the agency as “less than Category 3” levels of radioactive material.
“The shipping container arrived at its destination damaged and empty. Licensee has filed a claim with the shipper. If the source is not found within 30 days, Licensee will follow up with a full written report to include the root cause And corrective action,” read the notification.
It states, “Sources that are “less than IAEA Category 3 sources” are either sources that are very unlikely to cause permanent injury to persons or contain amounts of radioactive material too small to cause any permanent injury.” “
Reacting to the news, some social media users speculated that the drones could be victims of radioactive leakage or other hazards. However, official statements have been cautious and there has been no confirmation of such activities.

Trump reacted to the sighting
It first began to be spotted near Morris County, New Jersey in November, but has since spread to other states, including Massachusetts, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
Newly elected President Donald Trump recently took a dig on the issue and suggested that the mysterious drones should be shot down immediately.
“Mysterious drones are being seen all over the country. Could this really be happening without our government’s knowledge? I don’t think so,” Mr Trump said in a post on his owned social media platform Truth Social.
