According to industry tracker Sacknilk, the film has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in terms of worldwide collections. This achievement comes at a time when the Tamil film industry has been waiting for a big hit at the box-office since the beginning of the year.

Directed by debutant Shivakumar Murugesan, Thai Kizhav It deviates from the traditional commercial formula by centering its story on an elderly woman rather than relying on a male superstar. Set in a rural backdrop, the story centers on Pavunuthayi, a seventy-year-old moneylender played by Radhika, whose three sons begin competing for her wealth as she remains bedridden.

Apart from Radhika Sarathkumar, the film also stars Singampuli, Arul Doss, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu and George Marine in lead roles. The technical team of the film includes composer Nivas K Prasanna, cinematographer Vivek Vijayakumar and editor San Lokesh.
