Project Hail Mary continues to perform well at the box office. The film grossed US$8 million on its second Tuesday in the domestic market, a decline of approximately 15 percent from its discounted first Tuesday. This is the second best second Tuesday ever for a March release in the US. The film finished behind only Beauty and the Beast, which had a second Tuesday of US$9.5 million.
The Ryan Gosling starrer has reached US$177.2 million in the US by the end of its second Tuesday. The film is set to face stiff competition from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie tomorrow, as the animated feature film opens on the majority of IMAX screens.
Based on current trends, the Ryan Gosling starrer will cross the US$200 million mark in its second weekend, possibly by Saturday or Sunday. If it continues to gain popularity after the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the film has the potential to close its entire theatrical gross at the US box office between USD 275 million to USD 310 million.
The worldwide box office collection of Project Hail Mary is close to US$350 million. It will be interesting to see if the film crosses the US$500 million mark by the end of its global box office performance.
