The Malayalam film ‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ has emerged as a major box office success, which is the first female superhero story in the industry. Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dular Salman, the film has hit a raga with the audience by weaving mythology and folklore in a contemporary imagination, described as “mythological folklore and fresh mixture of mystery”.

The influence of the film has increased beyond Kerala, Bollywood heavyweight wins praise with Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt. Alia appreciated the unique story of the film and the love that has been received since the release.

Meanwhile, Priyanka congratulated the team in an Instagram post, adding the film to her watellist. “India’s first female superhero is here. Congratulations @Dqsalmaan and Loca’s entire team. The story was already winning heart in Malayalam, and now, it is also in Hindi. PS has already added to my wrathlist.” she wrote.

At the box office, the film has broken the record, which has become the highest -grossing female -led film in South India. Within a week of release, ‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ earned over 100 crores worldwide-a milestone for a female-centric story in regional cinema.

In the title role by Kalyani, the film follows Chandra, a mythically inspired heroine who infects a modern world with imagination. Critics have praised both immersive storytelling and commanding performance of Kalyani in position as a new force in Indian cinema.

Many stars have joined the chorus of praise. Akshay Kumar appreciated the beginning of the lead actor and said, “Pratibha has heard in the family that was rotten, AB Dekha Laiya (Listened earlier, Saw Now)!” His words further outlined the growing cultural footprint of the film.

The dress also includes Nahnan, Sandy, Arun Kurien, Chandu Salimkumar and others, which strengthens its cinematic appeal.
