Priya Patidar to sing for Raveena Tandon in Welcome to the Jungle
Priya Patidar said that recording the Welcome to the Jungle title track and singing for Raveena Tandon felt surreal. He said that this release marks his long-awaited lateral success and puts an emotional burden on his family.

Ever since the first song of Welcome to the Jungle was released, singer Priya Patidar has been flooded with calls and messages. And this recognition is the result of the patience he maintained for almost 18 years to get his ‘proper playback’ moment. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Priya recalled how this opportunity came to her unexpectedly and thanked Akshay Kumar for it.

Priya Patidar expressed gratitude to Vikram Montrose, Akshay Kumar
Priya Patidar shared that composer Vikram Montrose asked her to visit his studio one day. Given that they had worked together before, he didn’t think much of it and recorded the scratch (sample). “The moment he played the song, I was shocked. I have grown up listening and singing Welcome songs. I was excited and nervous, but also very excited,” she said, adding that she had forgotten all about the song until Vikram called her again.
Priya Patidar on singing for the three leading ladies
Priya said, “To be honest, I didn’t call him because if it hadn’t worked out, I would have been heartbroken. Also, I knew he would inform me, but as it happened, he forgot. A few days before the release, he called me to tell me that they were releasing the song. And I was shocked as well as happily surprised.”
She further added, “We all have been fans of this song since 2007. Of course, I was very young at that time, but I never thought that I would get a chance to lend voice to this song in the future. Apart from Vikram, I would definitely like to thank lyricist Megha Bali and most importantly Akshay Kumar sir. This is their film and them approving my voice means a lot to me.”
Priya was even more surprised to learn that her voice was modeled on several leading ladies in the film, including Raveena Tandon. The singer said, “I didn’t know it had a full cast because when I recorded the song, there weren’t many details. So it was a big surprise for me that I have played playback for three beautiful women together, and one of them is Raveena madam.”
He said, “I have performed live on his songs, but to play playback for him is an achievement in itself. And my mother is more happy about it than me, because she is a fan of the actor. Also, Vikram has done a great job of setting the songs in the jungle with all the different quirks and background sounds.”
Priya Patidar on difficulties faced by female playback singers
Despite the celebratory moment, Priya admitted that playback singing has become very difficult for female singers in today’s industry. Although duets have declined, not many songs these days are picturized solely on women.
She said, “It’s really very tough. And honestly, for singers, their real journey starts after their first big song. And I hope I keep getting such opportunities. It’s been a long journey for me, and when you see people achieving things in life, you’re happy, but as a human being, you also get angry as to why things aren’t working out for you. But it’s your passion and belief in yourself that keeps you going.” Is.”
The singer also revealed that the trip is extremely emotional for her family as her mother once dreamed of becoming a playback singer herself. “My mother wanted to be a playback singer. She got married at a very young age and given the way the industry was viewed at that time, she was not allowed to pursue her dreams. So apart from my dreams, I was fighting for her dreams as well and I think we are on the right track,” Priya said with a smile.
On a final note, we asked her to name the actresses who are on her wish list. “I really want to sing, do playback for Aishwarya Rai madam. The second is Kareena Kapoor madam. And the third is Alia Bhatt madam. I really feel that my voice will suit her, and I hope a filmmaker and a musician will feel the same,” she concluded.
