Actor Preity Zinta has contributed Rs 1.10 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) of the South Western Command of the Indian Army. This was a heartfelt gesture soon after India’s Operation Sindoor, on 22 April, the initiative was launched in response to the terrorist attack.
According to a release, the contribution made from the part of the Zinta of Punjab Kings Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund, empowering Veer Naris (war widows) and supporting their children’s education.
In an event held in Jaipur on Saturday, 24 May, in which Army Commander of South Western Command, Regional President of Shapta Shakti Avwa and several army families participated, Preity Zinta shared her heartfelt praise for the Indian Armed Forces.
He said, “This is both an honor and responsibility to support the courageous families of our soldiers. While we can never fully repay the sacrifices made by our armed forces, we can stand with their families and help them move forward.”
He said, “We are incredibly proud of our soldiers and remain stable in our support for the nation and its brave protector.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor is set to make her big screen back with the highly anticipated film ‘Lahore 1947’, where she acts unlike Sunny Deol. Set against Aamir Khan and set against the backdrop of India’s partition, the film marks his significant comeback after a long break from cinema.
