Actor Prakash Raj has intensified his criticism of political personalities by targeting Pawan Kalyan after a recent social media exchange. The comment comes amid his continued vocal views on the intersection of cinema and politics, after the actor-turned-politician had earlier taken a clear dig at Vijay.
The exchange began when Pawan Kalyan wrote on Twitter to speak about the Women’s Reservation Bill, “A historic opportunity to strengthen women’s representation in India’s legislatures has been deliberately blocked by the opposition.”

He further said, “The opposition’s stance makes it clear that they have no intention of supporting transformative reforms that strengthen India’s democracy and empower women. By refusing to support the Women’s Reservation Bill, they have once again put political calculations above national progress, thereby delaying a long-awaited step towards inclusive governance and gender justice.”
Responding sharply, Prakash Raj refuted the claims and questioned the political intentions behind the statement.
He wrote, “Please stop lying to the citizens just to please Modi. The Women’s Reservation Bill was approved only in 2023. It can be passed even now. But your gang wanted to pass the Delimitation Bill which will weaken the representation of South Indian states including Andhra Pradesh. You are requested not to sell the self-respect and statehood of the people of Andhra who have made you the DCM. I am ready to debate with you to explain. Are you ready? #JustTasking (sic).”
Earlier, speaking at a campaign event for CPI(M) candidate N Pandi in Palani, Prakash Raj described three major political approaches – the Dravidian model, the “slave model” and the “cinema model”. Addressing the crowd he expressed concern over The trend of film stars entering politics is increasingIn clear reference to victory.
He said, “In a film, you can be a doctor, or an engineer or even a Chief Minister. But, in politics, how can you directly become a CM? Have you talked about politics like me? Have you stood up for the people and Tamil Nadu when they were facing issues or stood up for the language or its self-respect? The love that people have for you is for your talent, not for your politics. You use the same love for your politics. Can do for.
#prakashraj, #जननायागन the villain sneers #thalapativijay Mention in real life that you can become a doctor, engineer, chief minister in cinema, but not in politics, people shower love on you because of your talent, not in politics, your model is cinema model. pic.twitter.com/h77ZzAkplu– Movies Singapore (@MoviesSingapore) 17 April 2026
The actor further emphasized that politics requires constant grassroots engagement. Citing actor-politician Seeman as an example, he pointed to his long-term involvement in public life, unlike many actors who enter politics without sustained ground work. He questioned voters about what type of governance they preferred and emphasized that political responsibility varies greatly from cinematic popularity.
Highlighting the distinction, Prakash Raj said, “People stood in queues in the heat, put up cut-outs, bought tickets, and ignored their homes and work to show you love, and now you are using it for your political entry? Look, if I like an actor, I can whistle till I get choked up. But I can’t give them the country. Politics is different; cinema is different. That love is different; that responsibility is different. Someone needs to get down on the ground and speak.”
Prakash Raj has previously worked with Pawan Kalyan in films like Jalsha And lawyer sirWhile he shares a long-standing professional association with Vijay, they have appeared together in films like Gilli, Sivakasi, VilluAnd Aathi.
