Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD to release in Japan on Japanese New Year
Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone will release in Japan next year. The release will coincide with Japan’s New Year festival Shogatsu.

Filmmaker Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD is set to release in Japan in 2025. Starring the cast, the film will be released on January 3, 2025, coinciding with Japan’s New Year festival Shogatsu. The film, which has already seen success in India, will be distributed in Japan by Twin, with distribution handled by Kabata Keizo.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD has already been a box office success, earning nearly Rs 1200 crore worldwide, including a significant Rs 300 crore from the Hindi market alone. Earnings are included.
Kalki is set in 2898 AD, a future world affected by climate change and conflict. The film centers on Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter caught between chaos and ancient prophecies. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwatthama, Deepika Padukone plays the role of Sumathi, and Kamal Haasan plays the villain Supreme Yaskin.
