Google has launched the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at the Made by Google event. This is the company’s second-generation foldable smartphone. The first-generation Pixel Fold was announced in May last year and was finally launched in June. However, it never came to the Indian market. And this is why this time the Made by Google event is a bit special for the Indian audience. For the first time, Google is bringing its foldable smartphone to India. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be officially launched in India tomorrow i.e. on August 14.

Google has launched the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL along with the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2 in India.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold price in India announced

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes in a single variant and will be priced at Rs 1,72,999 for users in India. However, Google is yet to announce the availability and booking details of the foldable smartphone for users in India. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has been announced in Obsidian and Porcelain colour variants. But we already know that apart from being available on Flipkart, which is usually Google’s official retail partner, this time the Pixel smartphones will also be available on Flipkart, Reliance Digital and Croma.

Apart from this, Google is opening three walk-in Google Service Centres in India. One of these will be opened in New Delhi and the other in Bengaluru. Both these stores will open now. The third store will be opened in Mumbai later. It is also worth noting that no matter where the Google device is purchased from, Google says that repair services for all models available in India will be available at all stores in India. This means that if you have purchased a Pixel device available in India from the US, you will still be able to get complete repair services for that phone at a service center in India.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a bigger display, slimmer body

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a taller and slimmer design than the previous-generation Pixel Fold. It has a 6.3-inch cover display and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex inner display. Google says this is the “largest display ever on a phone.”

The outer screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2424 pixels at 422 ppi. The display reaches up to 1800 nits in HDR and up to 2700 nits of peak brightness. Talking about the internal display, it is a 2076 x 2152 resolution OLED screen with 373 ppi. It uses ultra thin glass and has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The inner screen has HDR support up to 1600 nits and a peak brightness of up to 2700 nits. Both displays support HDR and both are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold measures 5.1mm when unfolded and 10.5mm when folded. This is thinner than the OnePlus Open, which measures 5.9mm when unfolded and 11.9mm when unfolded.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the same G4 Tensor chip that we saw in the tech giant’s previous generation foldable. The Pixel foldable smartphone comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also has an upgraded camera system with a 48-megapixel wide camera, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom and up to 20x Super Res Zoom.

On the front, both the external and internal cameras use a 10-megapixel dual-PD camera with a Æ’/2.2 aperture and an 87-degree ultrawide field of view.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has an IPX8 rating, which means it is water-resistant. The foldable has a “new” hinge that is made of stainless steel with an “aerospace-grade, high-strength aluminum alloy cover” for durability.

Google says the smartphone has over 24 hours of battery life and “up to 72 hours of battery life with Extreme Battery Saver”. It packs a 4650mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. It also supports Qi-certified wireless charging.

Google says that on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you’ll be able to use Gemini to multitask effectively with a split screen, allowing you to interact with Gemini while also managing what’s on your screen or in your photos. For example, you could find recipes based on what’s in your fridge. You’ll also get access to enhanced AI capabilities with a one-year Google One AI Premium plan, which includes Gemini Advanced, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, and 2TB of cloud storage.
