Google launched the much awaited Pixel 10 series on 20 August. The company released four devices, Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Pro folds. However, Google fans were in a hurry to notice a lameshel foldable deficiency similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Now, the officials of the tech giants have provided clarity on the future of the pixel line-up.

A flip-type foldable may be a logical step in the pixel chain. Clameshell devices are much cheaper than the book-type foldables, which provide maximum scope in the market. However, Google has no plans for now.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Google VP Shakeel Barkat confirmed that the company was not working on a flip-type foldable for the Pixel series. Bloomberg said, “Despite its partners, Samsung and Motorola are joining flip-style phones, where the screen opens vertically like an old school Motorola Razra, Google says that he intends to sit out of that race.”

Barkat said that the company was working on continuous improvement in the pixel fold. Google will try to fix the crease in the coming years, in an attempt to make it more comfortable.

Pixel 10 Pro folds up against Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. It is the first foldable to obtain an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. However, it is much thicker than its Samsung counterpart, when measured 10.8 mm when folded. Z fold 7 measurement 8.9 mm. Pixel 10 Pro fold priced Rs. In India, 1,72,999, while Z will start at Rs 1,74,999.

Google doesn’t see the future for tablets yet

While Google can change his brain on a flip phone in the future, the tech veterans seem to be done with tablets for now. The original Pixel Tablet was launched in 2023 with a Tensor G2 chipset. The company has not announced its successor.

According to an interview by Bloomberg, development on the tablet was ‘stopped’ on the tablet after failing to predict the future market for such devices on Google. The interview states, “At least for the future future, Google does not imagine a landscape where users are taking too much more than their phones – whatever looks that takes – watch, earbuds and glasses while wearing.”

Another reason behind not developing pixel flip or any other pixel tablet is back-end support. The Google Pixel provides a 7 -year -old Android update with 10 series. Such support to the equipment causes a toll on the company’s resources. Shakeel Barkat admitted that Google was not ready to pursue himself with a flip or any other tablet.

He said, “Every time a new category of product is added, the bar goes up on maintenance for the last user. It is already very painful.”
