Pixar announces new body swap film called Hoppers with Jon Hamm, Bobby Moynihan, Piper Curda; DEET

The D23 Expo saw the announcement of several Disney and its sister productions, 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios and Pixar. While the Avatar 3 title was unveiled along with the Mufasa trailer and a new trailer for Agatha All Along, several new projects were also announced at the grand event, including Hoppers, an animated body-swap story with Jon Hamm as one of the main characters.

Pixar announced the latest animated feature, Hoppers, during the D23 Expo. The latest Disney and Pixar film will follow the adventures of a little girl named Mabel who has a somewhat unusual ability; she is able to switch minds with a robot beaver. She goes undercover in the animal kingdom. With the unusual gifts she possesses, Mabel finds herself embroiled in a super-detective adventure inside the animal kingdom.

Her adventures in the animal kingdom lead her to form an alliance with King George, a royal otter. They join forces to protect the animal world against their enemy, a greedy mayor with development plans. Jon Hamm, who won an Emmy for Mad Men and received a nomination for his performance in Fargo, is set to voice the antagonistic mayor. While the film is promising, with a Pixar-style twist on action, heart, and some laughs, fans will have to wait over a year for Hopper.

26-year-old actor and singer Piper Curda is voicing the voice of the fearless Mabel. Curda has been associated with Disney for quite some time now. The actor previously appeared in several episodes of the 2013-14 series ANTI FARM. The actor also has a cast on The CW superhero series Legacies.

Joining the cast is former Saturday Night Live cast member Bobby Moynihan, who has a number of great animation credits to his name including If, The Secret Life of Pets and the Daniel Chong-created Cartoon Network show We Bare Bears: Baby Bears. Notably, Moynihan also lent his voice to the forgetful Bobby in Pixar’s recent blockbuster Inside Out 2, which has grossed USD 1.46 billion globally.

Given Pixar’s track record, which includes the 2024 hit Inside Out 2, it’s reasonable to assume that Hoppers will set up another success for the animated feature. While most of the film’s details are still under wraps, Pixar has announced a release date. Mabel’s adventures in Hoppers are coming to theaters in the spring of 2026.
