She filled our lives with happiness.”Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes immediately after the collision, with bystanders rushing to help Kaur out from under the car.Nathan Burge, who was at the scene, heard a loud crash before seeking assistance from nearby shoppers.“I just started yelling, ‘Any man, any man’, I’m pointing at people, blocking them, ‘Any man, any man’, I wanted to turn that car over,” he said.“We reached there with 10 to 12 people… We lifted (the car) and someone pulled it out.”According to witnesses, a woman in the crowd immediately began CPR and rushed Kaur to the hospital before paramedics arrived.Police had earlier said that the driver and Kaur knew each other. After the accident, the driver was also pleading to call an ambulance. In the weeks following his death, community members launched a fundraising campaign to support his family. The fundraiser initially aimed to raise A$50,000, but exceeded its target and raised over A$82,000 to help cover funeral expenses, memorial arrangements and the cost of repatriating her body back to India.“It is with great sadness that we share the heartbreaking loss of Komalpreet Kaur, a beautiful young woman, 19, who tragically died in a car accident in Perth, Australia,” organizer Harpinder Singh Kaler wrote on the fundraising page.“Komalpreet was full of life, kindness and dreams for the future. Her sudden passing has left her family and friends devastated and struggling to cope with this unimaginable tragedy,” the appeal said.“We are raising funds to support Komalpreet’s family during this incredibly difficult time. This has been a heavy burden for the family emotionally and financially. Any contribution, no matter how small, will provide much-needed support and help bring Komalpreet closer to her family.“Kaur’s father Amrik Singh is a retired Subedar from the Indian Army.
