Actor-politician and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is recovering after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder at a hospital in Mumbai on Saturday. A day after the procedure, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited the hospital to inquire about his health.

The Jana Sena party shared a photo from the hospital and posted an update on Instagram confirming Naidu’s visit.

The party wrote, “Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @ncbn met Deputy Chief Minister Shri @Pawan Kalyan who had undergone right shoulder surgery in Mumbai. A short while ago, Shri Chandrababu Naidu reached the hospital, spoke to Shri Pawan Kalyan and inquired about his health condition.”

Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan’s wife Anna Lezhneva also shared an update from the hospital after his surgery. Posting a photo of the actor-politician, she reflected on his resilience and wrote that he has always taken responsibilities far beyond his physical pain.

He said he rarely complained until the pain became unbearable. He wrote, “Right now, my only job is to take good care of him and make sure he knows he’s in safe hands. One day at a time. We’ll get there.”

Pawan Kalyan had shoulder surgery

Earlier, the Jana Sena Party had said that doctors have diagnosed Pawan Kalyan with serious rotator cuff injuries in both his shoulders. Although he was advised to undergo surgery immediately, he postponed the procedure to attend to his official responsibilities.

Doctors only operated on his right shoulder to ensure better recovery, while surgery on the left shoulder is expected to take place in about two months. According to the party, the injury dates back to 2016 and has worsened over the years due to frequent public engagements, political rallies and campaigns. The full extent of the damage was revealed during a medical checkup before his nose surgery earlier this year.

The three-and-a-half-hour procedure was led by Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist.

In a later update, the Jana Sena Party said that doctors also detected an avulsion fracture in Pawan Kalyan’s right shoulder, making the surgery more complicated than initially anticipated. After the operation, he was shifted to the recovery room, where he gradually regained consciousness under close medical supervision.
