In a historic moment, Indian professional wrestler Vinesh Phogat defeated Yusnelis Guzman Lopez of Cuba during the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics 2024. Phogat has now become the first Indian woman to enter the finals of the 50kg freestyle wrestling tournament at the ongoing Olympics and is assured of a silver medal. Bollywood actors including Rajkummar Rao, Taapsee Pannu have showered love on the wrestler on social media.
On August 6, Rajkummar Rao shared a photo of Vinesh Phogat on Instagram, which was taken from a wrestling match at the recent Olympics. Rao was extremely happy with Phogat reaching the finals and called her “the pride of our country”. In his post, the Stree 2 actor also sent best wishes to the wrestling champion.
He wrote, “And we are in the finals. It was such a pleasure to watch you play live. You are the pride of our nation @vineshphogat. All the best for the finals. Our prayers are with you.”

Actress Taapsee Pannu shared several posts on Instagram acknowledging Vinesh Phogat’s big win at the Olympics. In her first Instagram story, Taapsee wrote a long note for Phogat and described herself as a “lifelong fan” of the wrestler.
Her Instagram story read, “This woman will be remembered as a benchmark in so many ways for decades to come! What a woman! What a crazy year she had and what courage she showed. I will be a fan for life.”
The second Instagram story read, “And she did it.” In the third Instagram story, the Khel Khel Mein actress wrote, “Moving towards the finals like a champion.”

Actor Riteish Deshmukh shared a photo of Vinesh Phogat’s winning moment on X (formerly Twitter). In the photo, Phogat can be seen crying while lying on the ground after defeating the Cuban player in the semi-finals.
“This is what a champion looks like after beating World No. 1 and reigning Olympic gold medallist Vinesh Phogat,” Ritesh tweeted.

Apart from these, Ayushmann Khurrana, Patralekha, Kunal Kemmu and Soha Ali Khan also reacted to Vinesh Phogat’s big win in the Olympic final.
Ayushmann posted Phogat’s crying moment after winning the match on Instagram. In his Instagram story, the Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui actor wrote, “Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat couldn’t stop crying after win over the unbeatable World No. 1 champion.”
Actress Patralekhaa called it a “moment for the nation” on her Instagram story. The post read, “What a game it was… Champion. Vinesh Phogat won the silver medal. What a moment for the nation #Phoenix.”

Kunal Kemmu and Soha Ali Khan watched the semi-final match of the wrestling competition on television. The couple extended their best wishes to Vinesh Phogat after she won the wrestling match.
Kunal posted a picture on Instagram story, watching the match on TV. “Kya champion hai…ufff,” the Golmaal 3 actor wrote and added a fire emoji. Kunal also mentioned that he is “so proud” of her.
Soha also felt proud of Vinesh Phogat as she acknowledged the wrestler’s big win. The actress posted an Instagram story that read, “First Indian woman to reach the Olympic wrestling finals. So proud!”

Vinesh Phogat will now face American wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt on Wednesday (August 7) and win the gold medal. Vinesh is a three-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist and two-time World Championship bronze medalist.
