Indian para-athletes are making us proud as they are representing the country at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024. Friday was a historic day as India won four medals in the ongoing tournament, including one gold, one silver and two bronze. Avani Lekhara won the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 final. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana and other Bollywood celebrities congratulated Avni on social media for this big win.
It is noteworthy that Mona Agarwal, participating in the Paralympics for the first time, won the bronze medal in the same category of the air rifle tournament. Manish Narwal won the silver medal in the men’s event. Preeti Pal won the bronze medal in the women’s T25-100m event at the Paralympics and became the first Indian para-athlete to achieve this feat.
On August 30, Kareena Kapoor congratulated Paralympic winners Avni, Mona, Manish, and Preeti on Instagram after they created history. Kareena posted a collage of the four para-athlete winners on her Instagram story and tagged all of them. Bebo wrote, “Many many congratulations” followed by a red heart and tricolour emoji.
Ayushmann Khurrana also posted pictures of the champions and wrote an emotional note for them. In his Instagram story, Ayushmann wrote, “What a great day it was for India at the Paralympics. Feeling so proud.” He then congratulated the winners in the post.

Sonali Bendre, best known for films like Hum Saath Saath Hain and Sarfarosh, also expressed her gratitude to Avni Lekhara and the other para-athlete winners on social media. In her Instagram story, Sonali posted a collage of Avni and Mona showing their respective medals after their victory. The Sarfarosh actress congratulated both the air rifle champions and said, “The medals have come home again,” followed by a red heart and tricolour emoji.
Apart from them, producer Jackky Bhagnani and his wife, actress Rakul Preet Singh also congratulated Avni and Mona on their respective Instagram stories. In his note, Jackky called it an “unprecedented achievement”. “Congratulations to Avni Lekhara on winning the gold medal at the Paralympics and Mona on winning the bronze,” the producer wrote. “Your success is extraordinary and incredibly inspiring. We are all so proud of you,” the note further read.
On the other hand, Rakul Preet shared a picture collage of air rifle shooters Avni and Mona on Instagram. In her Instagram story, the De De Pyar De actress wrote, “Avni Lakhriya’s double gold win and Mona Agarwal’s bronze medal at Paris 2024 is a testament to their hard work and dedication.” The actress called the moment “inspiring” and added, “Salute to these champions.”

Sonu Sood took to Twitter to congratulate air rifle shooters Avni Lekhara and Mona Agarwal after their big wins at the Paralympics 2024. Sonu posted a photo of Avni and Mona making the victory sign with their hands. “Proud of you both,” he tweeted.
After her latest achievement, Avani Lekhara has become the first Indian woman to win two gold medals at the Paralympic Games. In the final match, the air rifle champion shot a score of 249.7 at the Games. On the second day, she set a new Paralympic record, breaking her old record, in which the para-athlete had scored 249.6 during her debut at Tokyo 2020.
