Pakistani director Omar Nasir Ali reviews I’ll Be Back: Extremely emotional

Pakistani filmmaker Omar Nasir Ali has praised Imtiaz Ali’s film ‘I will be back’. He described it as a very emotional film which stays with you long after it ends. He also revealed that his own upcoming project is based on the backdrop of Partition.

Pakistani filmmaker Omar Nasir Ali has praised Imtiaz Ali i will come backEven though the film continues its theatrical run on a modest note in India. Omar shared the film’s poster on Instagram on Monday, calling it “a beautiful and deeply emotional film that stays with you long after it’s over”.

The Partition-set drama stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari and Vedang Raina. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film explores love, loss, memory, migration and belonging through a story based on the real-life stories of people affected by 1947. It centers on a 95-year-old man whose urgent trip to Pakistan is interrupted by a stroke, after which his grandson begins to put together the pieces of a deeply personal story linked to Partition.

In his Instagram post, Omar said that his team was especially looking forward to watching the film as one of their upcoming stories is also based on the backdrop of Partition. He also praised Naseeruddin Shah’s performance and Aarti Bajaj’s editing.

Omar wrote, “What stood out was Naseeruddin Shah’s extraordinary performance, and Aarti Bajaj’s editing is a masterclass in cinematic storytelling that every film student can learn from. There’s no need to say much about AR Rahman.”

Omar also talked about his work and said that Partition has been written and filmed in many ways over the decades. He wrote, “From Manto, Bhisham Sahni, Intizar Hussain, Quratulain Haider and Ali Akbar Natiek to generations of filmmakers in the subcontinent, each has found new ways to connect with their memories, wounds and humanity.”

“Maybe it’s because the divide is too vast to be summed up in any one story. Each generation returns to it, uncovering new meanings. In many ways, the working title of our own project, we are thievesEchoes the same feeling of memory, belonging and return. We look forward to sharing our journey on this topic soon.”

The film is running at the box office

according to SacnilkIt grossed Rs 1.25 crore nett on its fourth day, its first Monday, from 2,139 shows. The film opened with Rs 1.15 crore on Friday, followed by earning Rs 1.85 crore on Saturday and Rs 2.50 crore on Sunday. Its total India earning is Rs 8.10 crore, while its India net collection is Rs 6.75 crore.
