Oscars can ask movies to reveal the use of AI after a cruelist dispute
The academy is considering moving forward the manifestation of the use of artificial intelligence, especially it was found that AI was used by the cruelist of this year’s best picture in the post-production process.
From next year, from next year, Oscars will consider asking people seriously nominated to disclose the use of artificial intelligence in their films, especially in the light of the cruelist controversy, nominated in the best picture category this year, the variety told.
According to reports, the cruelist used AI to increase some performances in its post-production phase. However, the director later shared a statement that he used AI only to refine the use of some syllables and vowels in Hungarian language.
Director Brady Corbett shared a statement stating that a part of the film used the honor of AI audio technology. It was used “Hungarian language dialogue editing only, especially to refine some vowels and letters for accuracy. No English language was changed.” Talking about the performance of the Oscar-nominated actors, Adrian Body and Felicity Jones, the filmmaker said, “Adrian and Felicity performance is completely his own.”
However, cruelist is not the only film that has used artificial intelligence in its filming process. Dune: Films like Part 2, Emilia Perez and a complete unknown have also used tools to improve their features. Nominated people may need to disclose the entire range of use of such equipment from next year.
