Oscar nominations have been delayed once again amid the massive fire in Los Angeles. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences released a statement, in which they noted that the voting period, which ideally was to end on January 14, has been extended to January 17.
Furthermore, the president of the organization claimed that the nominees’ lunch would also be canceled amid the disaster that has hit the city.
In the statement, President Janet Yang revealed, “We are all devastated by the impact of the fires and the deep loss experienced by so many in our community. The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry, and we are committed to standing together in the face of difficulty.

The statement continued, “Due to the fires still active in the Los Angeles area, we feel it necessary to extend our voting period and move up the date of our nomination announcement to allow additional time for our members. Is.”
Meanwhile, the list of Oscar nominations will be released on January 23. The nominees will be announced virtually, without the presence of a live audience at the venue. Apart from this, the luncheon to be held on February 10 has also been canceled by the committee.
For the 97th Academy Awards, the ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 2 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
