We have completed battery life and charging testing of the Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display (also known as the Pad Air5).
The tablet has a 10,050mAh battery with a 4nm Dimensity 7300 Ultra and a 12.1-inch 120Hz IPS LCD, which is a notable selling point on this machine. This is the matte display version, which is essentially an anti-glare screen. It is TÜV Rhineland certified for a 97% reduction in reflections and a 70% reduction in harmful blue light.
This works in real life too. It’s easily legible in bright daylight, making it a great companion for web work on the go.
Okay, on to the battery life test. The Oppo Pad Air5 returns an active usage score of 13 hours, which is good. This is broken down as follows – approximately 49 hours of calling, 13 hours of browsing, approximately 14 and a half hours of video playback and 7 hours of gaming. We test calling on a tablet using WhatsApp.
While good overall, the numbers are notably less impressive than the similarly specced OnePlus Pad Go 2 with the same 10,050mAh power pack.
The OnePlus scored one and a half hours more in the active usage score, about 13 hours more in the calls test, 1 hour more in browsing, about 1:30 hours more in the video, and 1 hour more in the gaming test.
The Oppo Pad Air5 failed to impress in the charging test, which isn’t surprising – it has an ineffective charging speed of 33W (although it’s still called SuperVOOC for some reason).
It reached 16% in 15 minutes, 33% in half an hour and took about 2 hours to reach full 100%. Still, in terms of speed, the Oppo Pad Air5 mostly stays on par with the similarly specced Honor MagicPad4, which has double the rated charging speed at 66W.
