The OnePlus Pad 2 will become the first Android tablet to receive the stable Android 15 update. OnePlus announced the rollout on its community forum, confirming that the update is now available for users in Europe, India, and other global markets. However, North American users, including the US, will have to wait until the end of this week to experience the new features.
The Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 update brings a number of enhancements tailored for the OnePlus Pad 2’s larger screen. Among the standout features is the introduction of “Live Alerts”, which mimics the functionality of Apple’s Dynamic Island. These alerts enhance multitasking by allowing users to view and switch between live activities with simple gestures.
Another notable feature is the addition of the new floating window gesture, which enables users to manage apps more efficiently. For example, dragging down a notification can open an app in a floating window, while swiping up gestures allow quick resizing, hiding, or closing these windows. The update also includes a redesigned quick settings and notification drawer, offering a split-screen mode for easier access.
On the visual front, the update improves animations and icons across the system, making the interface smoother and more consistent. Updated home screen icons now have more natural proportions and refined colors. Additionally, system-level animation effects have been enhanced, ensuring a unified scrolling experience across all apps.
Battery management also gets a boost, with a new “charging limit” feature that limits charging to 80 percent to extend battery life. There’s also a reminder to enable this feature if the device remains connected to the charger for too long.
Privacy features have also been improved. A new “Private Safe” categorizes images, videos and documents for easy organization, while hidden apps now have a dedicated home screen entry accessible via a privacy password.
This update solidifies the OnePlus Pad 2’s position as the leader in software updates among Android tablets. While other devices like Google’s Pixel tablet and Xiaomi’s Pad 7 also run Android 15, OnePlus’ quick rollout highlights the company’s commitment to delivering updates on time.
With a mix of performance enhancements, visual improvements, and user-friendly features, the Android 15 update ensures that the OnePlus Pad 2 remains competitive in the growing Android tablet market.
