The Houston Police Department has released a horrifying dashcam video that shows the moment a 41-year-old woman was crushed by a police officer in front of her screaming children. The incident occurred on September 19, 2024, and dashcam and body camera video were made public on Wednesday, ABC 13 reports.

Recently released footage shows a woman named Desiree Poole being hit by a Houston police cruiser as she crossed the street with her son and daughter. The incident was reported around 10 pm. Meanwhile, it also includes a fourth person who is standing on an island in the middle of the road.

Officer Shelby Kennedy was traveling with Antoine near Pinemont at 9:52 pm on September 19 when she plowed into a group at full speed.

As soon as the family saw the vehicle coming, everyone except Desire Pool somehow jumped out.

Officer Joshua Rosales, who is Kennedy’s partner, is heard yelling at him while sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

“Wow, wow, wow. Oh my God! You didn’t see them?” Rosales yelled immediately after Poole was hit by the vehicle.

Kennedy said, “No.”

“Oh my God… God, Kennedy,” Rosales said.

A video from Kennedy’s body camera later shows the victim’s children screaming at him and crying, while the two officers tried to administer CPR and called an ambulance to the crash site.

Officials said Poole was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was soon declared dead.

In the video one of her children can be heard shouting at the officers, “My mother! You all killed my mother.”

Preliminary investigation revealed that at the time of the incident, officers were transporting an arrested suspect to the Joint Processing Centre.

Although they have not released details about how fast the officer was driving, investigators believe speed was not a factor in the crash and have said Poole was not standing in the crosswalk at the time of the crash. .

The victim’s family from Illinois claimed that police officers did not show them the footage before releasing it publicly. They feel its timing is insensitive.

Poole’s uncle said, “I’m really upset, surprised and horrified by the way the accident happened. It’s disrespectful to have it revealed the day before Thanksgiving. It’s the worst thing you can do. It’s just rubbing salt into the wound.” As it is.” Lee Gordon said.

Gordon said Poole leaves behind four children, two of whom are struggling with the trauma of witnessing their mother’s murder.
