Om Puri’s first wife Seema Kapoor recalls their affair as she lost their unborn child
Writer and filmmaker Seema Kapoor recalled how Om Puri’s affair devastated her marriage when she was pregnant. She said the death of her child, divorce papers and her decision to avoid a legal battle made the period difficult.
The breakdown of late actor Om Puri’s first marriage was marked by heartbreak, loss and the decision to separate rather than fight it in court. In a recent interview, actor and writer Seema Kapoor revisited that difficult chapter of her life, opening up about the actor’s alleged affair, the loss of her unborn child and his apology to her years later.

talking to hindi rushSeema recalled that her marriage with the late actor started unraveling when she learned that he had an affair with another woman while she was pregnant.
She said that after learning about the affair she moved to her mother’s home in Rajasthan, a decision that ultimately increased the distance between the couple.
Recalling one of the most painful moments of her life, Seema talked about losing her unborn child.
She said, “Unfortunately, my child did not survive. At that time, that child was very precious to me because Puri sahab was not going to come back in my life and I was never going to get married again. That child was important to me, and he did not survive.”
He further said that he coped with this grief by writing letters to his lost child.
Seema also revealed that her family wanted her to take legal action against Om Puri, especially her brother, actor Annu Kapoor, for whom it was difficult to see her in pain.
She said, “Everyone wanted me to take legal action against Om Puri, especially my brother Annu Kapoor. But I did not want to fight a legal battle.”
According to Seema, going to Rajasthan increased the distance between her and Puri, and also gave Nandita Kapoor a chance to come closer to him. She said the emotional turmoil deepened when she received divorce papers from the actor after losing her child.
However, years later, Puri reached out to apologize.
Seema remembered that before undergoing a surgery in London, the actor had called her and said that he was sorry, he was not sure whether he would survive the procedure or not.
Om Puri married Seema Kapoor in 1991, but the marriage lasted for less than a year. He later married Nandita Kapoor in 1993. Their marriage ended in a bitter separation in 2013. The actor died in January 2017 at the age of 66.
