O Romeo box office collection: Shahid Kapoor, Trupti Dimri starrer collects Rs. 8 crores on the first day in India

O’Romeo collected Rs. Earning around Rs 7.75 crore on the first day at the Indian box office. The first day business is better than Shahid Kapoor’s last two films, Teri Baton Mein Uljha Jiya and Deva, which collected Rs. Rs 6.50 crore. 5.50 crores respectively. Physically, they are all on the same level, with a million separating the three.

At the face value of this film and the star cast, this opening can be called fair, especially if it can claw its way into the weekend. These days, lighter rom-coms are opening up in this category; This film leans more towards the darker and thriller side, which is considered less commercial, so it’s not a bad result. However, from an economics point of view, the film involved a lot of cost, and they needed it to perform better.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj has a disappointing track record when it comes to the box office, so this result isn’t entirely surprising. Her films Kaminey and Haider with Shahid Kapoor have done relatively well, although the previous film Rangoon did not do well and the cost was a bit high there too.

If we look on the bright side, today is Valentine’s Day. It is not an official holiday in itself, but it is historically a strong day for movie watching, especially for a love-story and a film that caters to the younger demographic, so to speak. As a result, the film may see better than usual growth on Saturday, but ultimately, it is important to survive on Monday, especially if the opening is not as good as it should be. It is expected that by the weekend it will reach around Rs. 27-28 crores and then stick to weekdays.

This won’t be enough to cover its costs, but it may keep the box office going for a while, which seems like it will be a quiet period until Dhurandhar 2 comes out next month.
