O’ Romeo continued its surprisingly good run on Tuesday, with the Shahid Kapoor, Trupti Dimri starrer earning Rs. Around Rs 5 crore nett. There was a 10 percent jump from Monday due to discount day. This brings its total earnings for five days to Rs. Around Rs 37 crore nett, first week probably Rs. 44 crore nett.
Given that the film held surprisingly well on Monday, which was mainly attributed to BOGO offers and the potential holiday impact in some areas, the decline may have been quite modest. As seen, movies with BOGO offers usually don’t go up that much on Tuesdays, but they also usually don’t continue BOGOs on Tuesdays because the prices are already down, but this movie continued BOGOs yesterday, so that probably saved it from falling.
Then, of course, there is said food involved, and obviously, the proportion of business coming in is out of the ordinary. The food probably takes place outside of national chains, with the national chains’ share of the business being less than would normally be expected from a film of this type. Generally, feeding is more visible in national chains, but here, it is probably done differently. You have a state like Gujarat doing better, something you don’t usually see with a film like this.
Originally, the film had a bad/meh trend over the weekend and was essentially dumped on Sunday, but now the film is suddenly trending well on weekdays, which just doesn’t happen. How long this will continue is unknown. As of now, it doesn’t matter as the fate of the film remains unchanged. Seems impossible, but if it continues or increases in the second week, then we may have to think about it because then the outlook may change depending on the box office numbers.
