Nothing has so far launched four earbuds in the market, including the Nothing Ear 1, Nothing Ear 2, Nothing Ear Stick, and Nothing Ear A. Nothing has now announced the launch of a new product on September 24, which is believed to be the company’s first earbuds and will be called the Nothing Ear Open. The teaser post on X reads: “Out in the Open. A new arrival coming on 24.09.2024.” The same teaser has been shared on the Nothing India X account as well, revealing that the product will be launched in India as well on the same day.

Nothing has been revealed about the product as of now, but rumours suggest that the teaser points towards new earbuds with an open-ear design that will rival the new Apple AirPods 4. There are several true wireless earbuds (TWS) available in the market right now. However, the new AirPods 4 is the only one that offers Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) along with an open-ear design.

The alleged Nothing Ear Open will likely be the successor to the Nothing Ear Stick, which was launched in October 2022. They were the company’s first earbuds to come without eartips. The Nothing Ear 1, Ear 2, and Ear A, all have an ear tip design.

Due to the expected design of the Nothing Ear Open, it is believed to compete with the new AirPods 4 that was launched at Apple’s iPhone 16 launch event on September 9. The AirPods 4 feature an open-ear design. Apple claims that the earbuds offer superior audio quality thanks to a low-distortion driver and high dynamic range amplifier. It also features personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, which gives an immersive 3D sound experience for music, movies, and gaming. The earbuds are gamer-friendly with support for low latency audio and 16-bit, 48kHz sound. The AirPods 4 also come with a new force sensor on the stem that allows for easy control for media and calls with just a press.

For the first time, AirPods 4 include active noise cancellation in the open-ear model. With upgraded microphones and the H2 chip, ANC effectively filters out background noise. It also works with Adaptive Audio, which blends noise cancellation and transparency modes based on the user’s environment. The Conversation Awareness feature lowers the volume when the user is speaking, making conversations easier.

The AirPods 4 offer up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case and support USB-C as well as Apple Watch and Qi wireless chargers. The standard AirPods 4 are priced at Rs 10,900, while the ANC model costs Rs 14,900.
