Not every film can not be Siara or Mahavatar Narasimha: Karan Johar defends Bollywood
Karan Johar ‘Mirai’ faces challenges in the Hindi film industry during the press meet. Speaking about ‘Siara’ and ‘Mahavatar Narasimha’, he said that the choice of the audience eventually decides the success of a film, rejecting any certain formula or crisis.

Filmmaker Karan Johar recently addressed the ongoing conversation about the challenges faced by the Hindi film industry in the press meet of Tejja Sajja-starrer ‘Mirai’. He said that there is no guarantee of success at the box office and the audience eventually decided the fate of a film.
He also praised ‘Siara’, the specialty of new people Ahaan Pandey and Anit Dadda for standing out of the crowd.
When asked what was going wrong in the Hindi film industry, Kejo rejected this notion. “Such kuch nahi hai, sir,” he said, “Every film has its own destiny and story. It has also happened many times that the film has very big stars, and has also done it. Therefore, it is not in all the matter.”
Karan emphasized that today the actor is more aware and in the creative process than ever before.
He said, “All the actors have now started to understand that they have to contribute to the film’s vision. They are doing different things. Everyone has become an understanding of our time,” he said.
When it comes to casting or styles, the director also warned against following an un–shaped-all approach.
“We cannot put everything in a box. If we take young actors and have a big vision, this film will work. It has happened many times that such films have not worked. You can definitely say nothing.”
The filmmaker further stated that the trends of the film continue to develop, and success cannot be repeated only by following popular formats.
“There are different era, movies and experiences. We have seen a lot of films that actually change our narratives. Now, many music films will be released with new people, but this does not mean that all of them will become a sera. Animation films will also come, but they will not necessarily have to become Mahavatar Narasimha.”
He further shared that the audience has the ultimate power.
He said, “There is no rule at the box office. You have to make stories, tell different stories and then the film becomes yours. The audience has to decide if they want to give love, business and respect for any film. The audience is God. They will decide.”
Karan Johar’s latest release ‘Dhadak 2’ was on the work front. His recent release includes ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ and ‘Sarzmin’.
