Kenneth ‘Lil Woody’ Copeland, who appeared as the prosecutor’s key witness at Young Thug’s trial, declared that he was “really happy” with the rapper and the rest of the YSL Crew following their release. On November 2, Copeland appeared on The Donza Project podcast and talked about not feeling threatened about Thug’s release.
“I have no fear. They are not a threat to me and I am not a threat to them,” he said. Young Thug was accused of participating in criminal gang activity, to which he recently pleaded guilty, ending the longest trial in Georgia history. This unexpected conclusion was caused by a turnover of witnesses, which complicated the state’s prosecution.
In August, Copeland’s appearance at the trial became a viral sensation due to his antics during cross-examination, notably repeating the phrase “I don’t remember” when asked about key details related to the case.
Later that month, Woody released a song named after his famous phrase and even began selling merchandise, including scarves and T-shirts centered on that phrase. During his appearance on the podcast, Woody admitted that he went through a “dark phase” when he let “demons” take over him.
“People say, ‘Oh, he’s a killer.’ No, brother. When those demons come to you, they can say anything. I know you are not in my position, I have no business proving it to you all.” He said. When asked if he ever sat down with Young Thug, he declined to comment. According to him, God had a “unique” way of doing things, and what was meant was meant to be done. He said, “I love Thug, I love Shannon, I love Yak, Quay, I love all those boys.” He further added that if he felt any kind of way about her, he could simply ask God for forgiveness and move on. “I don’t want to do anything to anybody,” he said.
