One of the most unforgettable actresses to have left her mark on Hollywood, the Academy Award winner recently shared a surprising rule she emphasizes with regards to her children’s potential future involvement in the entertainment business.

Berry has one son, 16-year-old Nahla, from her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, and another son, 10-year-old Maceo, from her ex-husband Olivier Martinez. She says that they will have to find their own path if they want to make it in the entertainment world. Berry also said in an interview with People that her children will not be given any special treatment if they start working in showbiz. She said that she had to get up from the ground up without anyone’s help in the business, and needs experience to move ahead alone.

Berry elaborated on her opinion, saying that she never faced nepotism in Hollywood and never received any outside help. “I had no nepotism. Nobody helped me. I had to learn from scratch,” Berry said. She further added that if her children were going to do the same thing, she would expect them to “do the same thing I did.”

However, the actress stressed that they have to pay for themselves with their hard work and master their craft, so that they can do it on their own and be successful. “That way, it’s always yours. No one can take it away from you,” she added, emphasizing on self-achieved success.

Although she claims she doesn’t give them any shortcuts, Berry admits that her career has earned her some “cool points” with her kids.
