No job is safe, Uber CEO says his engineers have cloned his AI
At a time when there are fears that AI could replace humans in a variety of jobs, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has revealed that his own engineers have cloned him, naming him Dara AI. However, this AI clone is not expected to replace the Uber boss as of now.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) could take over your job – this is something most of us have been hearing for weeks. However, it seems that even top executives will not be able to escape this AI takeover. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has revealed that the company’s engineers have already created their own AI clone.
During an episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, Khosrowshahi explained how he found out about his AI clone, affectionately named Dara AI. However rather than this clone being designed to completely replace Uber Boss, teams appear to be using it for practice.

“They basically gave presentations to Dara AI as preparation for presenting to me,” Dara said.
Uber CEO says we are all replaceable
Although on the surface, Darius AI may seem like a harmless experiment that Uber teams use to prepare for meetings with their real bosses, it raises questions about whether AI could even replace executives in the future. When Dara Khosrowshahi was asked about such a possibility, he responded, “When models can learn in real time, that’s the point at which I’m going to think that, yes, we are all replaceable.”
Similar discussions have taken place earlier also. During the India AI Impact Summit, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said that AI could “be able to do a better job” as a CEO than any executive. Last year, Google chief Sundar Pichai claimed that the role of CEO could be one of the easier jobs for AI in the future.
What about other jobs?
Uber now relies heavily on the use of AI when it comes to running its core ride-hailing business. The company has also launched new ventures such as an AI Solutions division, which pays independent contractors to help train AI for external clients.
According to Khosrowshahi, the adoption of AI could impact hiring decisions and team structure. Dara said he would want to “hire more engineers” if AI made Uber’s engineers 25 percent more efficient. However, there is a limit here too.
The Uber boss said that in the future he may be more interested in buying GPUs rather than hiring engineers. “At that point, instead of adding an engineer, I should have added agents and bought some more GPUs from Nvidia,” Dara said.
