The trailer of director Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Nishachi’ was released on September 3, 2025. The film, set in Hinderlands, Uttar Pradesh, showed debutant actor Aishwari Thakere in a double-rol as a tweet.
The trailer depicts twin brothers – individuals of Bablu and Dablu, which are depicted by Aishri, which differ in their values and approaches. The action-thriller was set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh in the early 2000s. The promo later showed Bablu’s clash with the opposition played by actor Kumud Mishra. The struggle of the hero to save his love’s interest, Rangeali Rinku (Vedika Pinto) leads to anarchy, gunmen, conspiracies and rivals. As soon as the trailer ends, Mishra’s character asks the hero to retrieve Rangeli’s body. Aaishvary replies by saying, “So you decide if you would be like ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ or ‘Hum Ekpake Hai Kaun’? Both were blockbusters.”

Actor Mohammad Zeeshan Job is shown in an important role in the film. Dressing the small town romance and gang wars, the film avoids the path of previous works of Kashyap, such as ‘Gulal’, ‘Gangs of Wasipur 1’ and ‘Gangs of Vasipur 2’. ‘Coff’ fame Monica Panwar also plays an important role in the 80s inspired gangster film.
Earlier, talking about the film, Kashyap said, “We wrote ‘Nishachi’ in 2016. Since then, I want to make this film in this way, and was looking for a studio that trusted me to do so, wholeheartedly.”
“Amazon MGM loved it, believed in it, and became a wall behind us. It is actually with all my films that people love – they were supported by great producers and great studios. ‘Nishnhanchi’ is a story filled with raw human emotions, love, lust, strength, crime and punishment, betrayal and its consequences.
In another interview with Galata Plus, Kashyap revealed that he had initially planned to make ‘Nishchi’ with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He mentioned that the project was announced in 2016 with Sushant, but after the actor signed two major films with religion presentations, he stopped responding to him.
The film is produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under the banner of Jar Pictures, in collaboration with Flip Films, and it is written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel and Anurag Kashyap.
‘Nishchi’ is set to release in theaters in India on September 19, 2025.
