Nine of the top-10 most valuable companies have a makeup of Rs. 2.74 lakh crore decreased; HDFC Bank was the biggest hit

Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex was down 2,091.68 points or 2.67 percent and the NSE Nifty was down 566.85 points or 2.32 percent.

“Markets witnessed a weak and volatile week as benchmark indices weighed heavily on investor sentiment due to a sharp rise in crude oil prices and renewed geopolitical tensions,” said Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd.

Banking stocks emerged as the biggest drag following mixed Q1 FY27 earnings, while the risk-off environment and rupee weakness further dampened buying interest, he added.
