Therefore, Redmi decided to skip the Note 16 series and go straight to the 17 series, which will be released later this month. According to rumors there will be four models – the Redmi Note 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and 17R – and we’ve seen leaked specs for two or three of them. Yes, there is some confusion going on.
The Redmi Note 17 is said to have a flat 6.83″ 1.5K display and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset – or 6s Gen 4, there are conflicting reports. It will have a large 9,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging and a 50MP camera.

Note that this latest report attributes the Redmi Note 17 Pro to a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip instead of the Dimensity 7500 in the previous report. The new report also claims a 9,000mAh battery and a 50MP camera for the Pro.
This report says that this will be Redmi Note 17 Pro Max which will not have regular Pro but will have Dimension 7500, 200MP camera and 10,100mAh battery. The Pro Max will also have a flat 1.5K OLED display, though it’s unclear whether this means the same 6.83″ panel as the two other models.
The phones will launch with HyperOS 3.1 (Android 16) out of the box. They will be equipped with stereo speakers. There are no specs for the Redmi Note 17R yet.

With the Redmi Note 15 series, there was no Pro Max model, but there was a Pro+. The Redmi Note 15, 15 Pro and 15 Pro+ use Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, Dimensity 7400 Ultra and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 respectively. The two Pro models had larger 6.83” 1280p+ OLED displays and 200MP cameras, while the vanilla model had a 6.77” 1080p+ OLED display and 108MP camera. Their battery capacities also varied (5,520mAh, 6,580mAh and 6,500mAh respectively), but nowhere near the 9,000mAh and 10,100mAh values quoted for their successors.
