Navi Mumbai has a great place for fun, family get-togethers, corporate events or a memorable meal with spectacular views: the Navi Mumbai Marriott. The 5-star hotel located on Thane-Belapur Road in Turbhe recently opened its doors and we visited for a relaxing experience. The hotel has a casual all-day restaurant called 7 Isles. But its special offering is the luxurious rooftop restaurant and bar called Nazaara. Offering unmatched views of the Navi Mumbai skyline, it also has an open-air pool and limited outdoor tables. We went to Nazaara for dinner and sat admiring the spectacular view of the city beneath our feet. In one corner, we could see the shadows of the hills on either side of the hotel, further adding to the drama of the setting. Nazaara has stunning interiors with shades of green, blue and earthy hues with a touch of golden motifs. Since we visited in the monsoon, the open-air pool area was not open for dining. However, just a short walk along its banks gave us a chance to imagine how enjoyable it would be to swim while enjoying the panoramic view of the city. The restaurant is run by Chef Rohit Mattumal and serves North Indian, Asian, Mughlai and select seafood dishes.

The bar specializes in bourbon-based drinks. Among them, the Truffle Pistachio was an exciting combination of flavors, enhanced with truffle oil. The Nazaara Sour, which had hints of tamarind and jaggery, was also quite satisfying. We also tasted non-bourbon cocktails. For a spicy bite, choose the Breezy Bliss (tequila, jalapenos, kokum, cucumber and lime juice). If you are looking for a smooth and sweet sip, choose the Twilight Twist (gin, rhubarb, white chocolate and kaffir lime leaves).

We started our meal with a selection of classic Pan-Asian appetizers. We loved the Crispy Lotus Stem, Turnip Cake, Spicy Cheesy Broccoli Dim Sum, Chicken Siracha Dim Sum and Chicken Sui Mai. Their comforting flavours paired well with our drinks, making it the perfect combination to unwind after a long, busy week. However, if we had to compare the non-veg starters, the Indian ones made more of an impact. We enjoyed the flavourful juiciness of both the Signature Murgh Wajid Ali Kebab and the Mutton Galouti Kebab. The vegetarian Subz Galavati Kebab was also delicious.

The desi cuisine continued with the main dishes: we enjoyed the Nalli Nihari, Nazara Daal and Paneer Kurchan with Naan. But if there is one dish we would definitely order again, it would be the delicious Kacha Murgh Ki Dum Biryani. The menu also includes popular Pan-Asian main dishes, of which we particularly recommend the Blue Pea Edamame Rice. We finished our meal with the Ying Yang Bao.
7 islands

We enjoyed a buffet for breakfast and lunch at the Navi Mumbai Marriott’s all-day dining spot: 7 Isles. Run by executive chef Rohan Malvankar, its name is a nod to the city’s seven historic islands. The restaurant has seven live counters serving up domestic as well as international favourites. During both meals, we sampled South Indian cuisine – which we were told the chef takes pride in. After tasting the drool-inducing Benne Dosa and the unique Mulbagal Dosa, we understood why. They were too delicious to miss. At lunch, we balanced the rich aromas of North Indian cuisine with fresh salads (pre-made and customised). We continued our enjoyment at breakfast as well. Everything we sampled from different categories – baked items, English breakfast foods, waffles, Indian staples, local snacks and more – won us over. We also loved the inclusion of dishes like chicken keema and kothimbir vadi. The food was nothing short of a feast and incredibly well curated. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, consider stopping here for breakfast during your road trip to Lonavala or other destinations. Being located on the main road, it is quite easy to do so.
Accommodation and other facilities

The Navi Mumbai Marriott has 152 luxurious rooms, with state-of-the-art fittings and essential amenities. Our room had a sleek, minimalist design that made the most of the limited space available at the city hotel. The view was the same as the Nazaar, but on a lower level. The understated luxury ensured a comfortable stay. The property has dedicated spaces for events, including a lower-level terrace for small gatherings. Apart from a rooftop pool, it also has a gym and spa facility. The latter is Marriott’s renowned Quan Spa, which offers a range of treatments.
Whether you are traveling for leisure or business, the Navi Mumbai Marriott promises to strategically meet your needs in different ways. Alternatively, if you are simply looking for a new destination for great food and drink in the area, the hotel will not disappoint you.
