Netflix has released an official trailer for its upcoming murder mystery series The Residence. Built by Shonda RIMS’s Shondaland, the show is set at the White House and follows a high-hand probe during a devastating state dinner. With a mixture of suspense and satire, the residence will premiere on 20 March.
The residence follows a skilled detective Cordelia Kyap, as he investigates the killing of Ashra, the head of the White House, which is AB Winter according to Screenrael.
Played by Uzo Aduba, CUPP must navigate a complex web of political drama, personal vengeance and more than 150 suspects. Randel Park FBI is included as Special Agent Edwin Park, which assists in investigation.
The story is inspired by Kate Anderson Brover by Inside the Private World of the White House.
The book provides insight into the lives of American presidents, their families and White House employees. However, the Netflix series takes a fictional outlook with a conspiracy of the mystery of its murder.
The series consists of a large dress artist, including a murder, Jiancarlo Esposito as a murder, AB Winter. Members of other artists include Jane Curtin, Ken Marino, Susan Kelechi Watson and Jason Lee, who play the role of Trip Morgan, the president’s rebel younger brother.
Australian pop star Kylie Minogue makes a cameo as itself, appearing as one of the guests in the White House. Talking to Netflix’s Tudum, Aduba described her character as “strong, she does not reveal the words, she is unexpectedly.”
He also mentioned that Cordelia’s love for birdwatching affects her investigative style, saying, “You have to pay attention to every expansion, while the birding, it is all related.”
Paul William Davis, known for his work on scandal, made a series. He revealed that Niwas takes inspiration from classic mystery films like Charde (1963).
“The residence honestly has a lot of things,” Davis said. “It’s fun, it’s suspenseful, it’s clever, it is completely away in places, it is really romantic in others.”
All eight episodes of the residence will be available for streaming on Netflix starting on 20 March. It is another major project of Rhimes that signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in 2017. The deal has already produced Brijanton and investigating hits.
