Netflix has announced a new animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft An exciting new teaser trailer will be released on October 10 (see below).

Based on the popular video game franchise first released in 1996, Netflix released a first-look trailer for the heroine’s next adventure last year, while also revealing that Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger, Mission Impossible 7) will adopt the voice of the legendary British archaeologist.

As well as seeing Lara Croft wield her iconic bow from Crystal Dynamics’ video game trilogy, the animation takes a step forward in remaining faithful to the popular gaming franchise with Earl Balon.Ware with Lumpia) reprized his role as Jonah Mayawa from the videogame. Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft – What We Know So Far

In the action-packed release date trailer, the weapon-wielding Croft takes on more dangerous adventures as she caves, skydives and leaps over lava to explore new territory. But an ominous voiceover recounts her perilous quest, asking how long she will be able to hold out – though no doubt this won’t stop her adventurous pursuits and lust.

Her traveling companion, Jonah Mayawa, also appears, but the fearsome explorer goes alone on this mission, with the series expected to follow the events of the Survivor trilogy videogames.

From what we know so far, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft Lara leaves her friends to pursue more treacherous quests. However, Lara is forced to return home when a thief with whom she has a deep personal connection steals a dangerous Chinese artifact from Croft Manor.

According to the Netflix duo: “Her daring quest will take her on an adventure across the world and into the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self and decide what kind of hero she wants to be.”

Since its original videogame release, Tomb Raider has become one of the most popular franchises worldwide, so it’s no surprise that it’s received the animation treatment from Netflix as a way to reimagine the legacy story.
