Singer Neha Bhasin has expressed her disappointment over the gender discrimination prevalent in the Indian music industry. In a strongly worded note, the 42-year-old singer criticized male rappers and singers for objectifying women in their songs and highlighted the double standards prevalent in the society.

“I’m so fed up with below average male rappers and want to be a singer who says weird things to women in his songs. And all Indian men and women agree with this. Is there any limit to the hypocrisy of sexism in India? If the boy does it, brother. Bhasin wrote, ‘Lakdi kare to character loose (If boys do this, they are cheap, but if girls do this, their character is objectionable).’

He further said in his post, “I don’t have any cage that I want to open. I’m not a milk creamer, and I’m certainly not a bottle of bantha. Grow up already.” In the comments section of her post, Bhasin said, “Society keeps calling out women for spoiling the culture by wearing flared clothes or just shorts is destroying Indian culture while you are raising your children. Make a complete reel from. Offensive lyrics, because it’s trendy. “I mean Kammon (sic).”

Bhasin’s note has sparked conversations among her fans, many of whom praised her for speaking out against the normalization of erotic lyrics in popular music.

The singer, known for hit songs like Jag Ghoomeya and Swag Se Swagat, often uses her platform to raise awareness on social issues and advocate for gender equality.

Neha Bhasin also recently spoke about her battle with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
