The upcoming film NBK111, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role, is undergoing major changes in both creative and casting. According to reports, after reworking the original story, the makers are now reconsidering the female lead of the film. Nayanthara, who was earlier attached to the project, may no longer be a part of the film as the team is restructuring the project to suit the current market conditions.
Initially, there were reports that NBK111 was conceived as a large-scale venture on a massive budget of Rs. 170 crores. However, with the OTT market currently facing uncertainty and low acquisition prices, producers are said to be exercising caution. As a result, the film is now being re-shaped as a complete mass entertainer to suit Nandamuri Balakrishna’s core fan base, leaning more towards his signature larger than life genre rather than a high budget experimental narrative.
Apparently, budget recalculation is one of the primary reasons behind the reported casting change. Nayanthara, who is one of the highest paid actresses in South cinema, is reportedly earning around Rs. 11 crores per film. With the makers keen to cut costs and reallocate funds towards scale, action sequences and commercial elements, the team is said to be exploring alternative options for the female lead that can fit the revised vision without significantly increasing the expenses.
Despite these changes, expectations from NBK111 remain high, given Nandamuri Balakrishna’s recent box-office success and strong audience attraction. Although there has been no official confirmation regarding Nayanthara’s exit or the final cast, an update is expected after the makers lock the revised script and production plan. Till then, the project is generating buzz as one of the most watched films in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming lineup. The Padma Bhushan awardee and Nayanthara were last seen together on the big screen 7 years ago in the film Jai Simha.
