Nawazuddin Siddiqui asked his daughter Shora to learn acting, said- ‘I don’t want to put pressure’

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s journey from being a struggling actor to a celebrated personality in Hindi cinema is remarkable. Remember Nawaz as the pickpocket in Munnabhai MBBS, who tries to steal Munna’s father Mr Hari Prasad Sharma’s wallet in the 2003 film? The actor gained recognition after bagging Anurag Kashyap’s two-part epic black comedy crime film Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012. Now that he has become a household name, the actor recently shared that he doesn’t want to pressure his daughter Shora to learn from his acting.

During his new interview with Hindustan Times, Nawazuddin Siddiqui expressed his views on whether he wants his daughter Shora Siddiqui to learn from his experience of acting in films.

The Gangs of Wasseypur actor shared, “I don’t want to put pressure on anyone’s mind that maine ye seekha to tum bhi ye seekha. Vo duniya ko apni naaron se dek rahi hai aur woh dekhna jaroori hai. Uska apda ka interpretation hona jaroori hai zindagi ka, thopa hua nahi lagna chahiye. (“I don’t want to put pressure on anyone by saying that I have learnt something, you should also learn this. He needs to see the world from his own perspective, and he also has to have his own interpretation of life. It shouldn’t feel forced or imposed.”

Talking about his journey, the 50-year-old actor recalled that his experience, training and life are different. Nawaz further said that he understands the world based on his experiences. The Manto star further explained that it would be wrong to advise his daughter Shora to learn from his experience. Nawaz said that he does not want to pressure her about this.

National School of Drama alumnus Nawazuddin Siddiqui said he believes in training. Talking about the need for training for actors, Nawaz stressed that if one wants to become a “serious” actor, one has to attend workshops or at least do some meaningful work.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui left for London last month with his 14-year-old daughter Shora Siddiqui to pursue her acting career. Shora recently performed the musical play Beauty and the Beast at the West End Stage – Theatre Summer School there.

Nawazuddin made his Bollywood debut in 1999 with a small role in Aamir Khan’s film Sarfarosh. His other small roles were in Black Friday, Shool, Jungle, Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local, Dev D and others. He now has films like Adbhut and Section 108 in the pipeline.
