The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is all set to announce the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards at 5:30 pm today at the National Media Centre, New Delhi. The ceremony will be live streamed on the YouTube channel of PIB India.

The announcement came after a delay of nearly two weeks, reportedly because the jury was still finalizing its selection. Earlier this month, sources indicated that deliberations were ongoing and that some jurors’ scheduling commitments had contributed to the delay.

The 72nd National Film Awards will recognize films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) between January 1 and December 31, 2024. The winners were selected by an 11-member jury headed by acclaimed filmmaker Jayaraj, which reviewed entries from across the country before submitting its recommendations to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

2024 was a remarkable year in Indian cinema, with several films earning both critical acclaim and commercial success across languages. Internationally acclaimed titles like We imagine everything as light And missing ladies Gave Indian cinema global recognition, while being a box-office hit. Pushpa 2: The Rule, Stree 2, Hanuman, Manjummel Boys And loving Emerging as some of the biggest successes of the year.
